“The eye is that which sees beyond the mountain, the mind is that which foresees what is to come.”
In this corner of the virtual world, I wanted to share my thoughts with you. Ideas multiply as they are shared and enrich each other as they come together. If I can leave a pleasant echo in your world, it will be a great joy for me. I thank in advance those who graciously share their thoughts by leaving comments.
Understanding the miraculous book, the Quran, should be our most important endeavor to guide us on the path to our Lord’s mercy and grace, to reach the abode of peace, and to give meaning and value to our worldly life. The word “Quran” means “that which is read often.” Since it is not possible to understand it fully with just one reading or to correct our state by comparing it with our lives, our Lord has emphasized the necessity of reading it frequently and named it so that forgetful humans do not forget. Of course, reading does not mean merely reciting; it involves contemplation, researching what is not understood, and ultimately understanding and applying it so that we can correct the corruption within ourselves, develop our piety, and acquire the qualities of a citizen of Paradise.
An important point to pay attention to while reading the Quran is not to hastily judge what we do not understand or what seems contrary to us. In such a case, skip that part. Continue. Start applying the parts that resonate with you. Rest assured, over time, as you learn, you will see that the mistake was due to our ignorance or previously acquired misconceptions, and we will be embarrassed. This situation is emphasized in the verse “Nahl 98: When you read the Quran, seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan” (i.e., say “A’udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim”).
Our Lord calls His verses advice. If we do not thoroughly understand and apply advice, it is unlikely that we will benefit from it. Another characteristic of advice is that it is not obligatory like a command, but when applied, it benefits the person; otherwise, the person suffers harm.
Apart from the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace be upon him), who is a beautiful example for us regarding the Quran and how to apply it, everything else is our interpretations. As with everything humans do, there may be errors and shortcomings in these interpretations. Therefore, the interpretations here are not absolute truths. Take what resonates with your heart and mind, and leave the rest. The writings have no copyright. You can use them as you wish. If a sentence suits you, if it has become one with you, it is yours; enjoy it!
With peace and love, may everything be as your heart desires.
